  • About Sandoz
  • In 1697, David Sandoz created the clock for the church of La Chaud-de-Fonds, a small Swiss town that today is a great center of technological production and haute horlogerie.

Throughout the second half of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century, the production of watches by family members continued; Starting in 1855, the Sandoz masters specialized in creating extra-thin watches and chronometers.

In the First World War the popularization of the wristwatch among men grew. Until that moment, the wristwatch was considered a strictly feminine accessory -as opposed to the pocket watch-, but the need that the soldiers had to see the time in an easy and fast way ended up causing the adaptation of this piece as a masculine accessory. Sandoz was among the first brands to specialize in the manufacture of wristwatches, to the point of becoming a supplier to the British Army.

More recently, Sandoz has launched collections inspired by environments far removed from urban life and a worthy successor to the family's chronographs. This year, the firm has looked back again to create the retro-style Légendaire series, which takes us back to the 50s, the golden age of cinema and, also, an important stage for the brand.
